Passionate About Dog Training
My Name is Becky, and I've been in the pet industry for 12+ years, and a Dog Trainer for 10 of those years. As a dedicated dog trainer, I am committed to inspiring and educating dog owners to build a strong and positive relationship with their pets. Through personalised training programs, I aim to address specific behaviour issues and enhance the overall well-being of every dog I work with.

When I first decided I wanted to become a dog trainer, I wanted to go to a school to learn, get a solid foundation on the basics and advanced skills and methods of the time. In 2014, the only place to really do that in Canada was the Canada West Canine Centre, the only University accredited Dog trainer school at the time. There I studied for 6 intense weeks, I studied all levels of obedience, kennel management, dog care, behavioural issues, personal protection, police K9, support (service) dog, tracking, guard dog, detection (drugs and bombs), temperament testing, and attack dog training. Upon completion and graduating I received my certification in Canine Obedience & Kennel Management, and Master Trainer.

I then went on and did my own thing for a bit, before joining up with Paws Republic, where I got to work with 100's of dogs over the past nearly 10 years from all walks of life, from basic pet owner struggles to complex behaviour modification. I've continued my education attending seminars, reading, doing online courses, and honing my skills with the dogs, both mine and clients, that I got to work with everyday. Now I bring that experience into my own company once again.

Philosophy
Get to Know Us
Eidolon: An image or representation of an idea; a representation of an ideal form.
We are here to show and teach you how to get the ideal training, for your ideal dog. All of our programs are tailored not only to the individual dog, but the person on the other end of the leash. We use a Positive First approach when it comes to training the dogs we work with and own.
"Positive First” was coined by Australian trainer Glenn Cooke of the Canine Paradigm podcast. It describes trainers who use Positive Reinforcement (such as food or play) as their preferred method of teaching, as long as it remains effective. When necessary, they add negative reinforcement (like leash or e-collar pressure) to enhance clarity, and using corrections only when the dog ignores known commands.
We will never force you to use a tool that makes you uncomfortable, but we will, at the most, ask you to try a tool for a week or so, to both get a feel for it, and to see if there is a difference in you and your dog. If you are truly against it after that time period, then we will respect your decision and move on.
We will also make sure that you are 100% comfortable using any tool we recommend or that you want to use, before you leave a session to ensure the greatest chance of success. We work for you and we want to work with you, while still taking in the well-being of your canine companion.
